Manchester United’s Late Move for Julio Enciso Before Ipswich Loan

Manchester United made a last-minute attempt to sign Brighton winger Julio Enciso before he joined Ipswich Town on loan, according to journalist Christian Martin. The Red Devils are looking for potential attacking reinforcements, especially after sending Antony out on loan. More player departures could follow soon.

Marcus Rashford has been linked with a loan move to Barcelona, while Alejandro Garnacho has also caught the attention of Napoli and Chelsea. In light of these potential exits, Manchester United sought to bring in Enciso as a possible replacement for Garnacho.

However, Enciso, who is from Paraguay, turned down interest from United, Borussia Dortmund, and Valencia in favor of a guaranteed starting role at Ipswich. Martin shared the details with Versus: “Manchester United made a late approach, hoping to bring Julio in if Garnacho leaves. But Enciso, who is focused on playing regularly, chose Ipswich to secure more minutes.”

Enciso, who turns 21 tomorrow, has impressed at Brighton despite limited playtime. He has made just 288 minutes of appearance this season, scoring once and assisting another goal. Known for his dribbling and high pressing, he has shown flashes of potential, though his contributions have been minimal so far. The £19 million-rated winger is also known for his powerful long-range shots.

At Manchester United, Enciso may not have been guaranteed a starting spot, with Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo occupying key positions in attack. His decision to join Ipswich instead reflects his desire for more playing time, which he may not have secured at Old Trafford.

It seems United is exploring cost-effective options for a potential Garnacho replacement, rather than splashing big money on a high-profile signing.
