Mykhailo Mudryk’s Chelsea Future in Doubt After Doping Charg
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a potential ban from football after being charged with a doping violation. This news puts his future at Stamford Bridge in question.
Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s manager, shared that he hasn’t spoken to Mudryk since the charges were confirmed. Mudryk tested positive for meldonium, a banned substance, and has been suspended since December. The Football Association (FA) recently announced the formal charges.
Mudryk, who cost Chelsea £89 million in January 2023, denies knowingly taking any banned substances.
What This Means for Mudryk and Chelsea
The 22-year-old Ukrainian international’s last game for Chelsea was in November. Since then, his number 10 shirt has been given to Cole Palmer. Even though he has a contract until 2031, the doping charges cast a big shadow over his position at the club.
When asked about Mudryk, Maresca said he spoke to him in Poland during the Conference League final but hasn’t had contact since. He added, “Mischa is a Chelsea player. Until he is not, I will trust. It’s not just about Mischa. It’s in general with all the players.”
Maresca also mentioned that when he last spoke to Mudryk, he seemed “quite good” and “didn’t see him worried.”
This situation is still developing, and more information is expected regarding Mudryk’s potential ban and his future with Chelsea.
