Chelsea Midfielder Set to Leave After Just Six Months at the Club

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, a Chelsea midfielder, may leave the club in the January transfer window despite joining only six months ago.

Chelsea signed the 26-year-old from Leicester City for £30 million in July. However, he has struggled to secure regular playing time under head coach Enzo Maresca, playing just 55 minutes in five Premier League matches this season.

Reports Suggest a Move Is Likely

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea is open to letting Dewsbury-Hall leave to find more game time. A return to his former club Leicester City is reportedly a strong possibility.

The Mirror has also claimed that Chelsea would consider a loan deal for Dewsbury-Hall, with Maresca agreeing to the move. However, since the midfielder earns £80,000 per week and is under contract until 2029, Chelsea might need to cover part of his wages if he moves on loan.

Challenges Since Joining Chelsea

Dewsbury-Hall initially found it difficult to adjust to his reduced role at Chelsea. Maresca previously commented, “At Leicester, Kiernan was the most important player. At Chelsea, he is one of many. It’s normal to struggle with that at first.”

Despite limited league appearances, Dewsbury-Hall has shown glimpses of promise in other competitions. He has played 14 matches across all tournaments for Chelsea and scored his first goal in October during a 4-2 UEFA Conference League win over Gent.

What’s Next for Dewsbury-Hall?

With the January transfer window approaching, Chelsea appears ready to give Dewsbury-Hall a chance to restart his career elsewhere. A return to Leicester City, even on loan, could offer the game time he needs to rebuild his confidence and form.
